Xavier had lived countless lives. Through all walks of life, he had wandered, struggled, slaved, fought, loved, even killed, and he was done with the world - or so he thought. The world had lived and died as many times as the seasons changed and would continue its cycles for billions of years more. Would pursuing a life as a garbage truck repairman or an anesthesiologist make any difference? He’d seen too much. He knew too much. Instead, he lived on the fringe of society off of the discards of others, among fellow humans, yet he remained apart. Only one thing set him apart from the rest. He remembered his numerous past incarnations. Did he truly remember, or were these dreams and visions merely delusions of a tortured mind? The line between real and unreal has no thickness. Only those whose lives were connected with his were worth the suffering of yet another chapter in the grand book, and having to watch as the world died once more.
