The World Looks Different When You’re Sitting in a Tree

“I believe that we are being taken advantage of by those who have money and power, who are determined not to lose control, no matter what the cost…”

W. B. Allen isn’t afraid to climb trees—an inherently dangerous activity—nor is he afraid to say what needs to be said. In recent years, the government has taken on the role of an overbearing parent, attempting to dictate right from wrong, trying to force us “children” to think, feel, and act a certain way. This is not why we elected our officials, and the system must change. Now.

The Radical is a social commentary on American life as seen from the unique perspective of one who dangles precariously from the limbs of swaying trees. Through a series of thought-provoking meditations, quips, and observations, Allen urges us to wake up from our sleep, pay closer attention to the activities of those in power, and take a more proactive role in how our society operates. If you won’t make a stand, who will?

Book Excerpt

The art of “not doing” sometimes gets the job done. Go to war and be everybody’s hero; feed junk food to our poor and you can be your own hero! There is more space within oneself than there is without oneself. See each new day as a new chance at life. One who makes the law seldom gets punished by the law.

About the Author

Wyatt B. Allen

W. B. Allen comes from a place called the Ishi Wilderness near Mt. Lassen in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. He now lives on the Big Island of Hawaii and works as a self-employed tree trimmer. Mr. Allen views the world with a critical eye, and hopes you will enjoy his book, which he wrote as a “seed of understanding” to help more people realize what is really going on in our government.
