WILDFLOWERS AS THEY GROW

A delightful book of wildflower illustrations of plants of the Rocky Mountain chain. An Artist’s work of 18 years duration worked in watercolor from the live plants

Book Excerpt

This is a book of 80 delightful botanical illustrations of flowers in the Rocky Mountains. They are scientific in detail and color as far a a paintbrush can delineate. They are rendered in watercolor drawing on fine paper to get exact reproduction.

The text is brief and relates to the places the artist found the plant. The illustrations are started on location from live specimens so that the attitude of the growing plant can be noted - as for a portrait.

The illustrations are rendered in the tradition of the early English botancals worked to show the plants brought back from explorations round the world.

The artist has been a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and has had an exhibit of some of these drawings at the Missouri Botanic Gardens.

This is a book for wildlfower lovers. It is a book for Aunt Alice, Gran'ma and house-bound connoiseurs. It is 81/2x11, a book for the coffee table, library and bedside to give pleasure, restore memories and elicit dreams of wildflower meadows and mountain trails. It is the perfect gift for a host who has spent time introducing a guest to our mountain world.

It does not pretend to be a trail companion. It is too large for a pocket but is a perfect size for gift wrapping.
