Book Details

Life is a book that writes itself!

This book expresses feelings felt by myself or others around me. Writing for me has always been an outlet of my emotions to deal with different trials that come my way. The poems in this book demonstrate the different types of highs and lows in relationships and the beauty of loving and receiving love in return; from being a confident woman to the ups and downs of friendships and everything in between. Through my writing you will be able to relate to any poem or can familiarize yourself with the situation expressed through the poems. I hope this book brings you much pleasure as I received from writing it.

About the Author

Candace R. Steen

When I sit back and reflect on the momentous events in my past, the significant aspects of my current life, and my goals, I appreciate what life was, is, and will be. I was born in Springfield, Ohio and raised in Nashville, TN, by my mother, who is a beautiful strong prayer warrior and my biggest supporter. I attended the Metro Nashville School Public school system. I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, master’s degree in conflict resolution and aspirations of finishing my doctoral degree in criminal justice soon. I am a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Order of Eastern Stars and The Sister’s Network. I am extremely thankful for my husband whom I married in 2018. Having a life partner to share and experience life with is a breath of fresh air. During my 19 years of service in Law Enforcement, I appreciated all the opportunities, lessons, and growth. Being the first black female negotiator for my department gives me immense pleasure knowing I have opened the door for others to follow. I am enjoying this new era of my life, professional setting, social commitments and living each day to the fullest. Being a breast cancer survivor has granted me a new viewpoint on life. I take pride in being a great wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend. When I reflect on who I am, I am proud to say I am God-fearing, beautifully crafted in God’s image, blessed and highly favored, a warrior and a survivor.
