Book Details

Big Jim Folsom was a literal and figurative giant who forever changed the Alabama political scene.

The man who served as Alabama’s 43th and 45th Governor left behind a memorable legacy. Bypassing the state’s long-standing, powerful political machine and local power brokers, Big Jim Folsom took his Populist campaign directly to the voters. His determination to help the needy and disenfranchised resonated with the state’s often overlooked common folks. Folsom’s Progressive views on civil rights were also far ahead of his time, particularly in the Deep South. His story is not only historic but Shakespearian-like, filled with humor, outrageous antics, drama, tragedy, and unfulfilled promises.
