Elizabeth Slenker has had the privilege of raising six Boston Terriers. She chose this breed of dog because they are easy to care for, small in size, and most of all because they smile. Elizabeth particularly loves the reddish color of the breed, which now can be found in anything from silver to red to black. Each of the six she has raised had a distinct “personality.” The present two, Boo and Belle, although they may look alike, couldn’t be more opposite in temperament. Boo is very compliant and lives to please. Unpredictable Belle lives to do as she pleases. Elizabeth calls her a “Boston Terror!” Both are trained therapy dogs with a variety of experiences as you read in the narration. Boo prefers to work with children and Belle with adults. As an artist who specializes in animal subjects it has been an enterprising endeavor to collect and paint the images that accompany the story, most of which are based on fact. Each day contains an unexpected surprise as to what pranks might be anticipated from these very beloved pets. The best part is being able to share these wonderful animals with others in the therapy work.
