Analisa Elizabeth Childress Hastings, Dowager Marchioness of Walsenburg, reenters society in 1845 at the end of her mourning period. But her life is about to take a dramatic turn when a handsome stranger traps her into a marriage of convenience. Analisa is unaware that she is part of a much larger plan—most of which will not be made clear to her until it is too late. In order to protect the young widow and, ultimately, the kingdom, the Crown launches a covert operation designed to bring down the enemy factions determined to wreak havoc on the kingdom. Through it all, Analisa holds strong to her principles and values. But will she be able to escape her marital shackles to find true love? Or will the players all turn out to be more than what they seemed?
