Book Details

“Helen Kanevsky writes, the slanted sense of reality/fogging harsh memories/of the malfunctioning world. She explores each stage of the life journey with failed relationships and broken dreams, we thought we could change the world/but only broke our wings in drunken binge. By the alchemy of poetry, she transmutes her experiences into work that expresses, in metaphoric forays and surrealistic sequences, the paradoxical way forward, while I am stuck between loss/and hope in this broken wheel of life. The poems are often turbulent and opaque, but also surprising and intriguing. For readers who are daring enough to take that ride, I would recommend this kinetic vehicle of Helen Kanevsky’s art.” – Salvatore Salerno, Poet Laureate of Modesto, California

“Helen Kanevsky’s newest book is a fast-paced collection from a restless and probing mind. Her style builds on short lines, observations that are by turns comic, rueful, and acerbic; and distinctive images from both the natural and the social world. She is seemingly fearless in her willingness to expose her own mistakes and foibles. All of that may sound heavy, but in fact she writes with a light touch. This is serious work that is fun to read, a rare combination.” – Tony Russell, poet and teacher
