The Story of a Young Texan Who Finds Himself Embroiled in the Turmoil of the Civil War.

Jake McIlroy is little more than a boy when he joins his grandfather and other ranchers on a journey to Mexico to purchase horses and cattle. Nobody expects the horrors that await them when their journey is interrupted by a band of Confederate cavalry. With the help of a sympathetic Confederate soldier and lots of luck, Jake escapes while the other members of his party are hanged. He vows revenge, and he gets it.
