The Social Worker

He’s trained, he’s experienced and he deals with everything from a ninety-three year old man who wants to end his life to a teenage kid willing to be shot down in the streets. He deals with mothers and lawyers and judges and parole officers and drug dealers and jealous psychotic killers as well as the people who populate each of their lives. He deals with the stresses and compromises and failures that surround them and his work and his life itself. Sometimes he and they win, more often they do not.

About the Author

Leonard Marks

The author, in addition to having published eight exciting and unusual westerns, is a retired New York State parole officer who has been working for the past forty-two years as a social worker in one capacity or another, most recently and for the past ten years as a psychotherapist. He has, in his career, done the type of work described in this book and probably even made some of the mistakes the protagonist in the book made. Some of them.
