Allie screamed, "You're a real Alien!"

Bullying is one of the biggest issues affecting our children today. This problem is not just a social issue: it directly affects the victim on all levels, including grades, family and mental health. The statistics on bullying are shocking. One out of five children admit to having been bullied and every seven seconds a child is bullied. This problem is fast becoming an epidemic. As an early childhood educator and caregiver, I am dedicated to help in the fight against this alarmingly growing problem. The first step to overcome bullying is to educate ourselves and our children. Literature is one of the greatest resources parents and teachers have to enlighten and educate children. Working closely with parents, educators, after-school programs administrators, and church ministries, we can use literature as a tool to teach children to identify and report any bullying. Many children and young people are often intimidated or feel isolated and therefore, do not report bullying, whether they are the victim or not. It is crucial to shed light on bullying to isolate and correct this devastating problem. After reading this book, which is targeted for young children, I believe it can be used in conjunction with other educational tools, such as role playing, to promote open discussions among children. There are many components of bullying including reporting bullying and its far reaching effects. This book focuses on all of these issues. It is my hope that you have as much fun reading this book, as I did in writing it. Thank You, Sharon King.
