Alexander Folk was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1946, the youngest of four sons. His call to the stage came early, when he had a notable success in a play put on by the First AME Church in Los Angeles. Friends and family encouraged his talent, and he studied acting at Los Angeles City College and at various workshops in the Los Angeles area. At the age of 20, Alexander moved to Hollywood, and has had an exciting career, appearing in film, TV, and television commercials. One of his most notable roles was as Jennifer Hudson’s father in Dreamgirls. In addition to his many screen appearances, Alexander has written film scripts and television pilots. He is COO of POGU Pictures Entertainment, LLC. He has traveled to more than 40 countries, and is now planning a cruise around the world.
