Joe Lunchbucket came to grips with the fact that neither he nor his experiences were unique unto themselves. What he discovered was that the collection of people, the times, events and places shared were unique. The Chronicles cannot just be stories to the reader; they need to be the gateway to your own remembrances. In a time long, long ago when rock and roll was still a fairly new genre of music, lyrics were understandable and there was a definitive melodic beat, the music, the times and the miracle of friendship and kindred spirits gave birth to a local combo. From the humble beginnings of four young lads, three with guitars and one willing to try pounding on a set of drums, grew a rock band that made its mark on the Chicago area music scene. Are we talking about the Fab Four from Liverpool? Well, in a word, no. While not destined to grow to a regional or national sensation, these young men carved out a niche and a following that is still fresh in the memories of those that knew, enjoyed and followed “The Sultans”.
