Secret Intrigues that Transcended the Magnificent Imperial Wedding in the Most Romantic Era of the Recent History of France

The elusive quest preceding the most lavish wedding of 19th century Paris, the Imperial Wedding at the Cathedral of Nôtre-Dame, in which a Spanish Countess, rejected by the Duke of Sesto, was elevated by Napoleon’s nephew to be Empress of the French, the most stylish and bejeweled woman in all Europe, while overcoming self-doubt and fears of being guillotined like Marie-Antoinette--true dramatic episodes that read like one of the most extraordinary historical novels ever written.

Nancy Becker

Nancy Becker has been an investigative and celebrity journalist for the Dallas Morning News and Dallas Times Herald newspapers, society and decorative arts magazine publisher, and an antiques appraiser, accredited by the International Society of Appraisers. As celebrity columnist, she interviewed hundreds of celebrities including Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, George Burns, Ginger Rogers, Lana Turner, Greer Garson, Rita Hayworth, and she met Prince Charles, Princess Margaret and other royal visitors (her by-line was Nancy Smith.) After studying in Switzerland and France for one summer as a teenager, she majored in French and history at Vanderbilt and SMU. Five years ago, Nancy Becker returned from the Museum of the Empress at Compiegne and tried to find a complete bio of Empress Eugenie, but none existed; in researching, she happened upon the greatest unrequited love story of all time! It literally changed the world! This great love story of Eugenie and the Duke of Sesto was destined to stay hidden until revealed in Nancy Becker’s book, “Imperial Wedding of Old Paris.”
