The years have flown by

And now it is time,

I realize my winter has arrived,

It amazes me that I have survived.

Filled with toil and strain,

My life is passing by,

So many questions,

I wonder why?

What did I leave

For others to follow?

Some things that I have done,

Are hard to swallow.

I tried to leave a mark,

Make a loud cry,

I walked the beaches,

Looking for footprints,

I followed no blueprints.

Did I leave a mark?

Or anything else behind,

I left nothing for anyone to find.

I must change my ways,

Now and always,

No clichés or praise,

No more stints,

If I am to leave my footprints.
