A small book with a big story!

In a Dandelion's World is a transitional book written for the child who is ready to step up to stories with multiple characters and a plot. He/She may consider some of their books as "baby books". Now they can discover something that allows a story to unfold, without being too much of a "bigl" book. The young reader relates with the youthful characters and soon sees them grow-up and grow old. He meets compassion as the characters play out a vivid scene of support, fellowship, teamwork, love and family. Supported by a few roughly crafted images, the young reader gets a big story in a little book.

The story was first written for my grand daughter, when she was four years old. She said, "Papa, if I could read those big words, that's the kind of book I'd like to read."

Book Excerpt

“That's Danny, he's kind of different, but we came through the mulch together and I feel a little responsible for him” said Bonnie

“He is cute, isn't he?” Billie agreed. “But you said different. "What do you mean?"

"Well for one thing he grows so fast, just blink an eye and he's taller than you."

Just then, Danny uncurled from behind the thatch and straightened up.

About the Author

Donald Charles Calarco

Donald Calarco has been a “story teller” since an early age. When he was a pre-teen he would entertain his friends by gathering them in a circle and telling a story from start to finish, with no preparation and no outline. His stories came right off the top of his head and captivated his audiences. For that matter, they still do! After a brief, yet interrupted career at the Second City Improvisational Club in Chicago, he began a business career. His business led him to copywrting for inspirational, motivational and promotional campaigns for his corporate clients. Until his first granddaughter turned sixteen, he had never thought to put his stories in print. This first effort, “In a Dandelion’s World”, is presented in the exact format that the story was originally told to a four year old. You can expect that there will soon be more to come, as his stories cover a broad spectrum of topics and interests.
