Book Excerpt

Genesis 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

Adam's affection for the woman led him to be "unstable as water," and regrettably, he failed to prevent her from partaking in the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Despite God's explicit warning of the dire consequences, they succumbed to temptation, thereby transgressing and defiling the earth.

Genesis 49:14 Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:

Gradually, they transitioned from their initial innocence (resembling a "foal" and "colt" as mentioned in Genesis 49:11) to a state described as "a strong ass," signifying a growing stubbornness of heart (Isaiah 1:1-31; Jeremiah 5:23, 7:24, 44:16; Ezekiel 2:1 – 4:17), driven by the worship of idols deviating from God.

Genesis 49:19 Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

Upon realizing the presence of the troop, Jesus extended His arms and declared, “I am He” (John 18:5 & 8). Subsequently, the troop captured, flogged, mocked, and ultimately crucified Him on the cross (Matthew 26:47-27:44; Mark 14:41-15:25; Luke 22:47-23:43; John 18-19:18). Their triumph occurred with His death.
