Spring, 1986, has arrived in York City, and that means one thing to a particular group of athletes at El Dorado High...baseball season. For Willie Stewart, B. J. Jackson, and some others, it is their third athletic season of the school year. It is the final semester of high school for the seniors, and optimism is high for a successful campaign on the diamond. As his father continues his health battle, Willie continues to navigate the difficult waters of adolescence, and, after his own setback, draws strength from an unlikely source. Scandal threatens the school once again, some students make poor decisions, and some fences are mended as the prom and graduation loom. For coach Steve Courtney, it is his final semester at the school, as well. For Tom Mathis, it is time to reevaluate his career pursuits, his family bonds, and his relationship goals. For disgraced basketball coach Jim Judkins, the day of reckoning approaches.
