Twelve year old Madison McClone is prepared for another classic boring summer. She’s ready to spend the days babysitting her little sister Mackenzie and the nights sulking, regretting why she didn't sign up for summer camp. But this year, its different. For the first time in her entire life, she discovers a girl named Laury. She learns that her mother’s best friend Laury went missing thirty years ago on her birthday and was never found. Laury finds numerous ways to communicate with Madison, warning her to force her mother to tell the truth about what really happened, or else. It isn't easy for Madison to even bring up Laury, since her mom is so resistant. When the McClone’s end up living with an old classmate of her mom, Belinda, Madison sees this as advantage. She is determined and uses all of her resources to find out more about the role her mother played in Laury’s disappearance. There’s only one problem: Laury doesn't want to wait anymore. She’s vicious, dangerous, and ready to kill if it means justice. Madison works through a number of tests: danger, death, violence, love and losing relationships of the ones dearest to her. But she won’t stop, she’s positive that she’ll be able to dig up the buried secrets of her mother’s past and set the truth free.
