Book Details

What happens when you drop three reluctant Southern California teenagers in the middle of remote India, that has never been exposed to Westerners before? The Lotus Blossom details this experience in a quirky, oddly humorous, coming-of-age story combining cultural exchange, friendship, family, and the expatriate lifestyle, that will leave you both entertained and enlightened.

Book Excerpt

"But mom! These are LEPERS!" Anthony complained. "It's CON-TA-GIOUS!"
"Well, I know..."she stammered, "but it's really hard to get! You won't get it in one day! We'll be fine!" she continued cheerfully.
All I could think of was Ben Hur entering the Valley of the Lepers. I gulped.
"So, we're just going to visit for a little while, say 'hi' and that's it? Then we can leave?" Julia asked, trying to make it sound more palatable.
"Yes!The children already know we're coming and they're really excited! It happens to fall on a day when they are celebrating! They're having a bunch of relay races, and games and other festivities!" Mom explained.
"Great. A relay race." Anthony continued sarcastically. "What are they going to do, pass the finger?"
Julia and I laughed at this, mother did not.
