Practice Respect, Show Respect, Live Respectfully

Evan Osborne is a 9-year-old boy who lives in a small Nebraska town with his mother. His main sidekick is his 3-year-old dachshund, Elliot. What stands out with Evan is his strong character for such a young child. Respect, responsibility, honesty, and cooperation are all character traits that Evan practices on a daily basis. In this story, Evan has a number of encounters with a child his own age. Jackson Rose is the polar opposite of Evan. As the story unfolds Evan tries to communicate with Jackson about being respectful, to no avail. After an accident puts Jackson in the hospital, Evan steps up to the plate and helps Jackson through the difficult time. What happens is a complete transformation in Jackson and a strong friendship for the two.

About the Author

Jim Reeves

Throughout his career in education, Jim Reeves has worked with hundreds of children and would try to reinforce character education to the children he was teaching. It was at this time that he discovered it was difficult for children to learn respect, responsibility, and honesty if it had not been taught at home. Lessons that seemed to work for children included personal stories or books that presented a character theme. The purpose of this children’s book is to help teach character education in a fun and meaningful story. It incorporates characters the children can relate to and will share a story about the importance of strong character. Reeves continues to work with children as a guidance counselor at Mary Lynch Elementary in Kimball, NE. In his free time Reeves likes to follow Nebraska Cornhusker Athletics.
