A small east coast tourist area forms and incorporates a Police Department in the mid 1950’s. Shying away from just black or white theories, laws and regulations, they venture into gray areas and utilize unique solutions to problems. Along the way, they find ways to come together when necessary while insulting and making fun of each other, any and every chance they get. Mythical “Cedar Springs” was what “Mayberry” would have been if it was 10 times bigger, an ocean front resort area, had a population that increased by 500 percent for four months out of the year, had 20 times as many bars as convenience stores and still handled most problems like Andy and Barney.

About the Author

M.J. Biersbach

M. J. Biersbach is a retired police officer from New Jersey serving in law enforcement for 25 years both in patrol and in the investigative divisions. While police work today is very sanitary with essentially the entire world able to review every move and decision made, during the 1950’s 1960’s, 1970’ and 1980’s officers were encouraged to find solutions to problems in what would be best for everyone involved and not necessarily through the use of the judicial system. Over the years, there were many officers that maintained someone should write a book about some of the situations that took place. Several years after retirement and with encouragement from other retired officers, Biersbach decided to offer a view of what small tourist town police work used to be. Accounts of incidents are mostly fictional and are largely embellished to add “cop humor” to individuals and situations described in the book.
