Book Details

Herein, we have the accumulated musings on a lifetime of hunting, fishing, foraging, and plain old poking around the backwoods. Life has afforded many opportunities. From a childhood filled with hunting pheasant and quail, to living in the Rockies, to getting off the “job” merry-go-round early, I have been fortunate. Nosing round Mayan ruins, fishing on the sea, and diving in underground caves called cenotes has radically enriched everything I am. This eclectic and perhaps odd collection of stories, poems, recipes and insights spans my lifetime of looking for rocks, mushrooms, and signs to read, scribbled on the firmament of this great Earth. Heed these memoirs well. They will not change your life, but might just bring a smile to your face.

About the Author

Denny Murawska

Denny Murawska has been publishing his thoughts on the outdoors for over fifty years. Many of these come from columns written for The Week news out of Delavan Wisconsin, circa 1990s through 2008. Some have seen print in Wishigan, Midwest Outdoors, and the wacky UP Magazine for Yoopers of course. Poems were my earliest expressions of love for nature. With the nurturing of my teachers, family, and James Dickey, they graced many small literary magazines, and the not so small New York Quarterly. These days find me still haunting coulees and forests in the magnificent driftless region of western Wisconsin. I write mostly for On Wisconsin Outdoors and UP magazine now. I still garden with passion, and amble to a ground blind for archery season. Fishing is easier. I like it guided in a cushy boat with good company. Grouse and ducks still confound me.
