Book Details

This book is dedicated to anyone who has ever worn Z-Cavariccis, listened to A Flock of Seagulls and watched the A-Team. We grew up in a generation of big hair and high top Reeboks. Bell bottoms were out and acid wash was in. The music was loud, sitcoms were funny and Saturday morning cartoons were amazing. We all remember getting scolded (or worse) by our teachers and not suing them over it. Our time wasn’t spent on the internet, but out in malls and in parking lots. We got into fights at school but made the best friends we ever had from them. I hope that all of you will enjoy reading about my little blast from the past as much as I have enjoyed writing about it. Our past is what has made us who we are today and has molded us into the men and women we’ve become. We mustn’t forget that. And remember, although this material has been taken from a part of our life that happened a long time ago, it was really only yesterday . . .

About the Author

Vinny Rigogliosi

I was born in Queens, New York in 1970 and lived there until the age of 16 when I moved with my family to Long Island. I attended three different high schools. There was Holy Cross in Bayside, New York, Valley Stream Central in Valley Stream, New York, and Coral Springs High School in Coral Springs, Florida. After finishing high school in Florida, I moved back to New York and completed a year of college at St. Johns University. I then headed back down to Florida, where I lived until 1997. I moved back to New York in 1997 and became an electrician. I now have a wife and two kids (and one on the way) and live in Long Island, New York. My twenty year high school reunion just passed in August, 2008, but regrettably I wasn’t able to attend. I can’t seem to get my head out of the 1980s and my wife is always teasing me to write a book about it. So I did. Every Saturday night, after the children are in bed, my wife and I listen to our local radio station (94.3) where they have a segment from 8 pm until midnight called Flashback Saturday Night. It was my inspiration to write this book. I had never even thought about writing a book before but I felt that someone had to get all this stuff down and preserve it. I hope it worked.
