I served six years as a Combat Medic in the Army side by side with my husband who was Military Police. Although we no longer serve in the military we still serve to help other veterans in Warrior Pointe, a 501(c)3 organization. I wanted to write a story about what most veterans think about the place we live in. What would happen if the town and government completely fell apart? I began writing just for myself to cope with my PTSD and anxiety, but found that it could be a story many veterans, firefighters, and patriots could relate to. I would like to thank my friends for allowing me to use them as characters. If I didn’t have such strong characters for friends, I would never have been able to write the story. I also want to thank my brother in arms and dear friend 1SG (R) Jim Perry, for his encouragement through this entire process. Most importantly, I want to thank my husband, for always supporting me with my endeavors and everything I do. To any of you who would like to know why I chose Bell Buckle, Tennessee of all places, I will say this: I encourage you to go and visit it. While you’re there, talk to one local and you will understand why my characters would want to protect the town and it’s people with their life.
