Book Details

An unforgettable memoir, and powerful personal journey. This is a multi-faceted work which is much more than just a good autobiography. Using his past as an example, the author has leveraged his experiences and produced a unique developmental learning tool. The reader will find this book to be insightful, informative and extremely enjoyable reading. The author demonstrates how to develop a framework of positive behaviors that fits readers’ personalities and experience and which have worked in the past. Likewise, if the reader has a history of negative behaviors in response to stress, the need to acknowledge the problem and transform responses into positive steps is shown. There’s no magic wand in life, but you will be shown a structured way to examine your past. Whatever your past experiences, this book is tremendously useful because we all know that adversity is inevitable in life. Having a plan or framework in place to better deal with these travails before they strike obviously puts us ahead of not having one and allows us to face it and move on with greater confidence. I tend to think of it as an emotional insurance policy.

Considering the almost unbelievable series of tragedies the author has met and surmounted, would be enough for one book in and of itself. This autobiography reads like a novel and is riveting. Each story validates a behavior the author considered for his final list. The subtle way the learning is mixed in with the anecdotes makes the reading easy, fun and interesting throughout. After all, school teaches us our “ABC’s”, but only the school of hard knocks introduces us to facing tragedy. It doesn’t necessarily do the rest of the job - i.e., teach us how to cope with and surmount it. That’s my purpose here. To show you some of the coping mechanisms I used to deal with my life experiences. What I’m trying to provide here is a way to develop your own framework to best fit your needs. There’s no benefit to repeating a mistake. I like to joke that I would rather make ‘all brand new ones’, instead. Besides the learning, this book should also make you laugh, and hopefully, howl along the way. I think enjoyment is a big part of learning and that’s what I’ve tried to emphasize here. Good luck as you continue on your journey. When tragedy strikes or things appear bleak, remember, someone, somewhere is in a worse predicament than are you.
