A woman living with invisible wounds

You've heard the old saying: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Dance with Danger: A Story of Domestic Abuse and Survival is a memoir of a young mother's journey from abused victim to victorious survivor. K shares with us very intimate details of how a verbally abusive relationship affects the mind and every aspect of a person’s livelihood.

Book Excerpt

Brad must have seen the seriousness in my face because then he relaxed his stance and stepped back. I took that opportunity to pick up the baby, and I opened the door and walked out. He followed behind me like he was 'Mister' from "The Color Purple" shouting at me and threatening me to never return. I opened the car door and responded to him by calling him the 'punk' that he was for picking on a woman all these years. That's when he came over to me and as I was buckling the baby into her car seat, and he spit on the side of my face then he walked away.
