Book Details

This book can change your life from okay to meaningful but only if you have the courage and willingness to listen to the voice of your soul when it calls. Then let your ego handle the heavy lifting while your soul navigates the journey to find your soul’s call and act on it. Second Act Soul Calls is for those at midlife and beyond who want to prepare for the most exciting, challenging and meaningful time of their lives. This book will inspire you to…

This book is an invitation to the baby boomer generation to take ownership of their lives at midlife and beyond by listening for and acting on their soul's call. We are all called to be our authentic selves in the world, but we don’t always answer that call. We are all soulful beings whether we choose to think of it that way or not. To be human is to have a soul and to act on its call is to live a more authentic and purposeful existence. This book is your guide for this journey. But like all journeys worth the trip, it will come with challenges and struggles, but also a great opportunity to grow and discover who you are and what your soul calls you to do, and be in the second act of life. The Baby Boomer generation, the target audience for this book, is living an average of thirty years longer than their parent's generation. This book asks them to consider becoming pioneers rather than to simply settle down to a life "out to pasture" regardless of how upscale and fancy a pasture that might be. Although the myth the media tries to sell them is that their only option is to save their money and invest like crazy from midlife on so that at sixty-five they can retire and go on a perpetual vacation for the next thirty or more years, there is another way. Instead this book asks them to consider a different path, the one their soul is calling them to live, if they only listen for its message and act on it at midlife and beyond. If they do, then they can live out these bonus years with passion, purpose and possibilities. Not only that, but they can also make a contribution to the greater good and leave a legacy for how to live the second half of life for those coming up behind them.

Book Excerpt

From the Preface... I love the idea that we are all called to a unique and special destiny; one all our own and that we each have a soul, and this soul is imprinted with a code that says who and what we are capable of becoming. I also love the idea that it’s never too late to hear your soul’s call and act on it. Even at midlife and beyond we can still hear that call and transform our lives. All we have to do is allow this idea to inspire us, to give ourselves permission to stop and listen for the voice of our deep self, to decipher its message and take action to reinvent our lives. And maybe this is just an idea with no concrete proof, but ideas are powerful and magical when acted upon. It takes an idea before action can occur and ideas have moved mountains, created masterpieces and landed a man on the moon. I also believe, along with the great philosophers Plato, Socrates and Nietzsche, spiritual teachers like Jesus and Buddha and human development scholars such as Maslow and Erickson that a life lived in service to something bigger than our own little wants and desires is the most satisfying and meaningful kind of life we can live.
