Book Excerpt

From the INTRODUCTION . . .
The words "Let's go RVing" are inherently exciting û an implied adventure in the words "Let's go" and a sense of something fresh with the addition of the idea of "RVing". The thought of traveling in a new way and to new places is exhilarating. Your presence here, in this book, suggests you are at least thinking about a rental RV vacation and that you recognize a need for further knowledge. We congratulate you on your willingness to consider new ways of doing things!
From the perspective of one who has never traveled by RV, we recognize RVs seem large (which is of course true), and generally incomprehensible (which is false). All who now RV have stood where you now stand û in a place of not knowing, of facing discomforting complexity. That millions have stood where you now stand and gone on to have pleasant RV experiences would indicate you are in a perfect place.
People come to this book for a variety of reasons, seeking a wide range of information. Some of you picked up this book from a place of curiosity û you may never have really considered an RV vacation and may be in a very preliminary phase of information gathering. Others will have already made their decision, committed to an RV rental and come to this book simply looking for some last minute tips to make the journey smoother and more enjoyable. Some of you are RVers with years of experience. Others have never even been inside an RV.
Organization & Objectives
The journey between the RV novice and the seasoned veteran of RV Travel is not as long as it might appear. The path starts with a bit of knowledge and leads to a never ending course of "hands on" learning. This book's function is to provide the introductory knowledge needed to get you on the road. There you will begin your own process of experience gathering.
The Vacationer's Guide to RV Rentals is designed to guide you through your first rental RV vacation. This book is divided into four parts; each part presents a collection of chapters with focus on a particular phase of vacationing in a rental RV. It is not necessary to read this book in the order it is written or to read it from cover-to-cover . . .
