Planting Roots in Mosier, Oregon

After traveling west in the early 1870s in search of the perfect place to settle, Amos and Hannah Root purchased farm ground near the tiny village of Mosier, Oregon. They spent the next 45 years developing the farm, rearing eight children, and becoming an integral part of their community. Their lives ended on the same day in a shocking tragedy, but their legacy continues in the lives of their descendants.
