Crunch Time: That was like, “Well, here you go, second day, this is what you signed up for.” It didn’t take long; Day One and the second call of the day. That’s an example of extremes - a cold report to gather facts and the other extreme, responding “code 3” (a fight in progress), where you have to be ready to use force. That was a great eye opener. I just wanted to make sure that I did everything right. They are not breaking us in softly.

William Marshak

William (Bill) Marshak took a circuitous path to journalism, co-founding Tri-City Voice newspaper in 2002 with his wife, Sharon. Raised in Los Angeles, Bill graduated with a degree in biology from Earlham College. Following a variety of careers - teaching to financial services - he entered the world of journalism. Bill's natural curiosity about the community of work and professions led him to a series of interviews with three young men about to enter the challenging and fascinating world of law enforcement. Bill and Sharon live in Fremont, California.
