Greed is also destructive because it is idolatry: the worship of something other than the true God. The reason we chase things, the high life, and pursue prosperity, is because we worship things instead of God. If we truly worshiped God, we would turn away from pursuing things, stop using His Word and Name in a wicked attempt to get things, and trust Him to take care of us.
