Book Details

Preaching is real and authentic when it discloses God’s presence, illumines works of revelation, enables reconciliation between humankind and God and bears the redemptive gift of God’s love for each one of us. Preaching: The Mirror of God is a reflection of the essence and qualities of true, meaningful preaching, encompassing God’s love, reconciliation, and kerugma, God working through Christ in and for people. The book examines the wisdom of great preachers’ understanding of what works, what connects the man or woman in the pew to God’s wisdom disclosed through the gift of the preacher. The format of the text interweaves the hunger for meaning found in Fosdick’s counseling sermon methodology. Three gifted pastors’ insights, reflections, and experience add depth to the understanding Rev. Wickliffe Fisher believes makes preaching real. We live in a time when the human race needs to find God in our midst so that the issues confronting our world can be met head on and we, the human race, can have a metanoia, a turning around, to live the lives of mature integrity, respecting all human life and living the life that is God’s gift to us.
