Is it safe for me to say that we have at least one thing in common? We all want peace around us and in the world. Wait, let me make that two. We all want to live healthier. When we have both, we cannot help but to be happy. Now the question left is, “how can I be happy even if I am healthy ‘like many of us are’ when I am still struggling financially?” Well, I would have to say that a lot of us are feeling that way. We think that it is the least important thing because what matters most to us is our obsession with success. We are living in a materialistic world and we feel unfulfilled when we miss to measure up to what society labels as “success”. Because most of us failed to define our own idea of success. Think for a minute, would you really be happy if you had all the money in the world and you were dying of an incurable disease? Or, would you really be happy if you had to worry at all times for your safety and your family’s haven? Even if you can afford to pay for private security guards and buy all that technology has to offer to protect your entire family, you are still not going to be happy because you have no peace of mind. Because if you are having so many concerns for your safety, then you know that it can still happen to you. It is such a deception to think that you are immune to experience the negative things that happens daily because you have more money than others. Let us not lose sight of the main purpose of living. To live fully is to experience life without any reservation of fear -fear for our young children or our elderly parents. But for as long as we have the proper health, we then can work hard towards our dreams and ambitions, so then when we accomplish it, we still have our health to enjoy the things that we so strive for. This is called a balanced life. Remember that life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced. How would you like your experience to be? Life is what you make and give. Are you giving love and peace? Then you will receive just that because it is in giving that we receive. What you sow is the harvest you reap. Through a simple smile you draw positive attention and it makes you and others feel at ease. When you smile to the person that you just walked by, did you get a smile back? Often we do, right? But say the smile we displayed was not reciprocated, would you really be sick? Would you let it bother you? Come on, you know it is not your loss. Do we think that maybe they didn’t like us? We need to be considerate that maybe he or she is really going through some rough times that they are being consumed by pain and sorrow. Who are we to make it worst for them? Why should we let a few rejections stop us from offering a simple smile to others who can really use it at any given moment? Let us not make that mistake. Once and for all, we can have unity through the offering of love and peace. And it starts with a smile. As the song goes, keep smiling and keep shining. This is the only thing of your possession that you can endlessly give that enriches those who will receive, without costing you a cent.
