About the Author

Daniel Birch

Daniel Birch grew up in a happy but quiet home in Delaware with his parents and brother. He met his future wife in ninth grade and dated her through high school. Her family of one sister and five brothers was an intriguing experience for him. They were anything but quiet. After marrying in 1969 they began their own family in 1970. The turmoil of a larger family was comfortable for Dan and his bride and in 1978 their fourth child was born. Now, over forty five years later they are the proud grandparents of ten fantastic grandchildren. A busy career ended with some medical issues in 2004. His lifestyle was changed dramatically and his pace slowed substantially. Due to that change Max and Mom Mom started calling him Pokey Pop Pop. Dan enjoyed writing some poetry and short stories and thought it would be fun to write a story for Max. That idea grew into this book. They now live in New London, Pennsylvania and all of their children and grandchildren live within a short drive of their home. Pokey is still a description many of the grandchildren use for him. Because of their fun loving ways Pokey Pop Pop may get into other adventures worth writing about.
