Old-School Glory Days

“In our youth, our hearts were touched with fire.” (Oliver Wendell Holmes) This book is the story of a large group of football-playing teammates at our alma mater, Randolph-Macon College, in Ashland, Virginia, during the period 1965-1970—the winningest six-year run in program history there. It has been written to try to rekindle recall of the halcyon days of our youth, before all our memories fade to black. We were bulletproof back then, but now have grown all too familiar with our manifold limitations. Thanks, old friends, for the memories.

About the Author

Tom Harleman, DT, PhD

The author is proud to have played left defensive tackle on the R-MC Football Squads of 1967-1970. Following a career in the Marines, and another in the public-school classroom, he has at last retired to his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, overlooking the Elizabeth River. His two sons Owen and Jesse, grown to honorable manhood, now have families of their own, and Jeanie, his partner in life, keeps him out of trouble—most of the time.
