A retired Naval officer, Berni Dodd resides in Memphis, TN. She grew up in a rural community outside of Phenix, VA, spending most of her childhood on the farm. Thankful for her roots, endearing family and friends and community of faith, hard work and a strong work ethic laid the foundation for her journey. Growing up amongst many strong women in the family and community, young and old, these ladies forged even stronger bonds amongst themselves, often just to survive and take care of their families. They played a critical role in shaping her future, getting her through college, the military and even still today their influence lingers. Her mother, Bernice Paulette Dodd, the Paulett/Paulette family and the fierce bond with her dearest cousins fueled her wielding passion for the guitar, art, soulful stories, and the love of song, while the military gave her a continued sense of family, comradery and respect for the differences in people and cultures. Combine her fortunate lifetime of love and experiences with the relationships she has built in the Memphis area and the result is truly a blessed life.
