“Allen Shay – An effective advocate for District 4 and the City of Pasadena” Allen Shay has been a Realtor and Financial Advisor for almost 30 years. He brings an institutional knowledge and unwavering dedication to Pasadena. As the eighth child of thirteen brothers and sisters, Allen’s mother was his role model. She instilled in him to live by example; to give back; to work hard to earn the respect of others and to take pride in his community. As a product of Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD), Allen graduated from John Muir High School in 1977. One of his proudest achievements in high school occurred during his senior year. At 135 pounds he started as the nose-guard for the varsity football team. Allen’s performance on the field contributed to winning “The Turkey Tussle” game; and for the first time in ten years, John Muir High School brought back the bell. As a result he received the coveted award for “Most Inspirational Player” on the team. Allen graduated from USC in 1981. After college he started a business consulting firm in a small one room office with a high school friend and worked at night while working by day for Allstate Insurance Company in the Accounting Department. Allen managed his responsibilities along with assisting his family with two other businesses. In 1986 he attended Law school at night and worked full time at his Business Consulting firm. In 1989, Allen graduated from Northrop University School of Law earning his Juris Doctorate degree. Furthermore in 1996 Allen obtained his Real Estate Broker license. Allen Shay is known throughout the greater Pasadena areas a fighter for the interest of this community. As a business person he is loyal and committed to serving his clients. Allen through his professional expertise and strategic planning has saved many families from foreclosure. Struggling businesses have also benefited from his sound financial advice. His twenty nine years of business experience has helped to add certainty and stability to many of his clients’ investments as well as added value to the quality of their lives. Allen has spent his entire adult professional life working on behalf of the residents of our community. He prides himself on problem solving, commitment to community and addressing the needs faced by the residents of Pasadena. Allen Shay pledges as member of the City Council he will work tirelessly on behalf of District 4. “Our issues are real and we need a real common sense way of doing things.” He plans to develop more effective methods to address the needs of the residents. Allen is committed to the preservation of neighborhood schools, businesses, parks and emergency services. He is devoted to preserving the unique qualities of the neighborhoods and businesses of District 4. A few highlights of importance about Allen Shay’s community involvement. 1. A volunteer for the United Democratic Headquarter in Pasadena. He received the outstanding precinct leader award during the 2010 mid-term election. 2. A member of Pasadena Foothill Associate of Realtors (Pfar) and servers as a Committee member for the Government Affairs Committee. Pfar works closely with many of the governmental organizations in Pasadena as well as in the greater San Gabriel Valley to consider various legislative and policies decisions that impact our community. 3. Started volunteering his time at the age of sixteen as a coach for little league baseball, Pasadena’s Bulldogs All-American football program, John Muir’s freshman football, YMCA’s basketball program. Currently coach the Trojans, the Pop Warner football team at Victory Park. 4. A volunteer mentor at Blair, John Muir, Pasadena High School and USC. 5. In 1995, Allen established Our Society Foundation (OSF), a foundation which provides scholarships to seniors from Blair, John Muir and Pasadena High School that are accepted to a four University.
