About the Author

Kelly Thompson

Kelly Stone Thompson is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife who lives in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Western North Carolina. Her poems and stories reflect her childhood growing up in Kentucky and Alabama, and her 20-plus years of experience as a health-care provider. Kelly began writing during the COVID 19 pandemic, finding comfort and meaning in exploring themes from her childhood, her work, and her husband’s cancer. Kelly lives with her husband, Sydnor, their golden retriever, Luke, and their bobtail cat, Jack, in a small community north of Asheville. My Sister Is a Mermaid is her debut collection.
