Benjamin O. Igwe is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Family Services Network of New York, Inc. Dr. Igwe’s career includes developing and managing several health and human service projects overseas. His work has taken him to the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia. His project development interests are in maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, economic development and public health policy. Dr. Igwe received the Greater New York March of Dimes Program Excellence Award in 1994 for work done in improving prenatal care services and reducing infant mortality in Brooklyn, New York. He is a 2005 recipient of the New York State Department of Health Commissioner’s Distinguished Service Award for HIV/AIDS service delivery.
Dr. Igwe was born in Eastern Nigeria where he completed his early education in that country. He received postgraduate and doctoral degrees in public health from Loma Linda University, California and the University of the Philippines. He also holds an MBA degree in Finance from Hofstra University, New York, where he graduated with distinction.
Benjamin O. Igwe is a student of the human condition, wielding the written craft to enrapture the mind much like an artist wields a brush. The pages are a blank canvas on which to draw from a talent heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the task. Living In-Spirit is the first in a series of recent pursuits, with work progressing quickly on the follow-up.
