Feelings, Fantasies and Forgots

This book is a compilation of poems, happenings, reflections, flash fiction stories, and short stories accrued over several decades. Many of the pieces involve nature and its connection to the Creator. Some pieces reflect observations of people and their habits and eccentricities, such as The Blue Hair Express which describes a collection of elderly ladies who regularly take the "church bus" to their place of worship on Sundays. A number of the reflections describe life and places in a bygone era. The haiku poems contain profound wisdom, at least in the author's eyes.

Book Excerpt

As summer waned, the katydid nation lost their leisure and became more and more agitated. This led to disagreements, confrontations and, sometimes, a faceoff leaving one less performer for that night’s obligatory symphony. Lassiter had tried to avoid interaction by resting in seclusion during the day and by positioning himself in one of the outermost trees while working at night. Still, he had been challenged several times and came away the victor, unscathed. Now, with the cooler weather, he began feeling an ominous, sinister presence. It was not unknown to him. Each day he felt more threatened, more cornered. He knew his old nemesis was on the way. He knew that sooner, rather than later, he would have to confront that familiar, old devil. He would come face to face with his inevitable, merciless, deadly foe, Jack Frost. But he knew Jack wasn’t invincible. After all, Lassiter had been through other summers with other katydid nations.
