Max Brand believed he could save the United States from self-destruction.
A 60 year old physician, well-versed in how evolution was mostly responsible for human nature, was selected by the elders of his country to live perpetually. Max Brand had been chosen because he manifested and taught ethical behavior based on science, which had helped his country avoid the pitfalls of anger, hatred, and selfishness. Someone like him would help citizens remember what they had learned to save their country. To achieve immortality, he needed to survive an intergalactic trip which insured his telomeres would not age. Because of a misadventure with a wormhole, he ended up landing his craft on planet Earth, 2000 B.C.E., in Mesopotamia. After being assisted by a Hebrew named Terah, he soon met his son, Abram who was intending to lead the Hebrews to God’s promised land. Abram and Max became close. One day, without warning, Max found himself in modern day Lebanon as he was travelling to Canaan. He reasoned that the famous physicist from his planet had not realized relativity could be operational from two different time vantage points in the brain. Max eventually made his way to New York City, and after awhile, realized his journey was really just beginning, as he was appalled to see the ignorance exhibited by the populace as to political behavior which had forgotten the common good. In part because, he knew he would not age, Max knew he had to find a path to re-educate the citizens of a country who once understood what altruism, kindness, and generosity meant. The rest of his story centered on his effort to make that happen and attempt to save The United States from self destruction.
