Book Details

Like a tree, we must stay strong.

The women before me provided the roots that helped me grow into my own strength when I needed it most.

I then became the tree of those roots to create the legacy of branches that would come after me.

“A Legacy of Strength ~ My Story on Paper, is an incredible story of life, loss, and hope told by the lovely young lady that lived that life. I was drawn into her story as I began to read the first few words. She is a strong individual who has survived so many heart-breaking times in her life. Her story will be an inspiration to anyone who reads it. She writes in a way that makes you feel as if you are right there with her, feeling what she is feeling. It is a very compelling story of survival and triumph. If you like to read, you will love reading A Legacy of Strength ~ My Story on Paper.”
~Tommye Staley, author of Washing Worms: Memories of a Southern Girl

“A Legacy of Strength ~ My Story on Paper is a raw, visceral narrative of intergenerational trauma and feminine resilience. Sandi Young skillfully intertwines memory and reflection, offering a deeply personal account of her healing journey while inspiring others to embark on their own. Her story also serves as a powerful reminder to families, urging them to recognize how their actions shape future generations and encouraging them to break cycles of trauma and set their children on a path of empowerment.”
~ Alana Valdez, The Connecticut Women’s Consortium, project coordinator, writer and editor.

About the Author

Sandi Young

Sandi grew up on the New England coast where her love of the ocean and sun began. She is a first-time author sharing very personal details from her childhood traumas pertaining to loss and grief. The multi-faceted messaging in her story is meant for women, young and old alike, to learn and grow from. And most importantly, to understand the significance of having ones voice heard, and the negative impact trauma can have on a child’s emotional health when not addressed. This is also a story about generational trauma, generational strength, unconditional love and lastly, resiliency. When not writing, Sandi’s favorite pastime is connecting with family and friends. And to this day, she remains drawn to the healing properties that the ocean and sun provide her.
