After Captain Charles J. Gallagher retired from active duty, he went on to distinguished service as a member of a federal government recovery team and as a commanding officer for the US Naval Reserve: four times as the Naval Liaison Officer for the State of Mississippi, and twice as an Inspector General. His final position at the end of his impressive civilian career was as the externally funded research and development program manager for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. He has published and presented many technical papers and received 16 military awards, including the first Secretary of the Navy Commendation for Achievement Award for a classified operation. He and his wife Anita have three adult children and enjoy participating in community life from art to gardening.
