Something didn’t feel right about this transfer to Iran.
Judith Marie and her husband, William, had lived and traveled in the Middle East for over three years and were accustomed to crowded airports, even with a few armed soldiers, but something was different about this day. They had heard Iran was undergoing civil strife, but like most other times, either the government or the U.S. Embassy would squelch the strife and rumors quickly. So why did people appear so tense and rushed? Little did the couple know that martial law had been declared the very day they arrived in their new home. Welcome to Iran…indeed. A pregnant Judith Marie and her family faced shootings and bombings on a daily basis. Her daughter, Shannon, was born in a private hospital one block from the revolutionary’s headquarters and on the high holy day of Azar Ashura. Then the Shah’s regime fell to Khomeini. Last Flight to Freedom is a real-life adventure—a harrowing story of one family’s plight behind the lines of civil war.
