Reflective Devotional Journal for Christian Educators with Applications in Diverse Settings

This reflective devotional journal for Christian educators is intended to help educators (at all levels and in any environment) gain encouragement through God’s word, reflect on current practices, and set intentional goals that foster student learning in a positive way. The reflective format of this journal will help guide educators in defining some of the challenges they face daily, and will provide them additional strength through their faith, and a reminder that God is there at all times. Each entry includes a Bible verse (NIV), reflection for educators today, and an application to further connect the reflection to current practices. This journal allows educators to choose their own sequence of devotional activities with space for current and future reflections that apply to the scripture. Authentic assessment of current practices relies on the ability to self-reflect daily over time with an on-going awareness of student needs that guide the relevancy of instruction. The applications apply to educators working in Christian and non-Christian environments, both facing diverse challenges in the field of Education.

About the Author

Kelly Sadlovsky, Ph.D.

About the Author: Dr. Kelly Sadlovsky I currently Chair the Department of Graduate Teacher Education and serve as the Coordinator for the M.A.Ed. with emphasis in Early Childhood program at Concordia University, St. Paul. I own a large child development center in a high risk community, and we have continuous growth in families wanting their children to have Christian education in our program. We started a “Jesus Loves Me” program so that children are able to hear God’s word, sing songs, and discuss applications of the Bible lessons relating to their own lives. I have been in the field of Education for over 26 years with roles as classroom teacher, administrator, director, curriculum specialist, family advocate, mentor, trainer, licensing consultant, and higher learning faculty instructor. I am passionate about professional development for educators, and I hope that this reflective devotional journal inspires educators, relights a fire that may have dimmed, and creates a greater level of self-awareness which is key to both individual and program improvements.
