I couldn’t stop staring at her. She looked so different, I hardly even recognized her.

The silence of the night was eerie, as if the entire world hushed to a silence to listen in on this one conversation. She shifted her weight and looked up at the night sky. The wind blew past us, causing shivers to run through the ghost of what was once standing right in front of me. I used to see my future in her eyes, but now, all I saw was the pools of tears that wanted to escape, the same way that she wanted to escape.

Janna Ariane Lorenzo

Janna Ariane is currently finishing up her senior year at Cerritos High School. After being admitted into the hospital at the age 16, she decided that she wanted to pursue her dreams of becoming an author. Her work resembles a mixture of John Green and Sarah Dessen, her favorite Young Adult Authors. She came up with the idea of Just Play Along after a long and hard battle with depression, turning her words into a story. Outside of writing, Janna Ariane plans on becoming a pharmacist in the near future. She would like to thank her parents, her sister, and God for helping her reach her goals.
