Shades of Gray

Cara Davis is a lonely thirteen-year-old girl. She lives in a trailer park with a drug addicted mother, two sisters who seemingly despise her, and her life just seems to grow worse by the day. In an instant, her life is changed when she is kidnapped by a man named Alex Stone. However, it’s not the usual story. He wants to educate her and groom her to be the “perfect wife”. He wants to save her from the horrible life she’s been living. Years pass and one day Cara is recognized. Thrust back into her old life after being gone for so long, Cara’s not sure how she should act. She’s fallen in love with Alex, but everyone is telling her she’s been brainwashed. Her world is further flipped upside down when she also finds out that her mother may have been involved in her disappearance. Was she or wasn’t she? That’s what Alex is telling her, but who can she really believe? Will Cara and Alex survive or will she realize that he may not be Prince Charming after all? Cara is caught in the psychological bond between a captor and his victim. Can she break that bond once she’s free or will it stick with her?
