Book Details

I Remember Your Smile recounts the first seventeen years of Catherine McKee's life, which was grounded in discipline, obedience and love of the Lord, in the decades of the 1950s and 1960s. What began as a tribute to her Mother, ended up being immensely healing to her soul. The book seems to heal others as well. The story is told with such transparency, that you feel the devastation of a persevering family in a nation polarized by a social epidemic of economic and racial disparity. By recalling a dark season of American history, she ensures that we may never repeat such mistakes again. The message of this powerful social commentary is told through the eyes of a child. In the throes of it all, you will also see undying hope and joy as you witness the bravery of one woman.

About the Author

Catherine McKee

Catherine McKee is a survivor. Her hope in writing is that her story would connect with and help others. In 1988 Catherine barely escaped an abusive relationship with her life. Determined to break the generational curse of abuse, climaxed by the death of her eldest child Deshia, it took two decades for her to journey through a spiritual transformation. However, despite the great turmoil she faced, Catherine never gave up her dream of attaining a college degree. She graduated from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado, in June 2007. She attributes her success to the grace of God demonstrated through Jesus Christ, the voices of her children, and her mother.
