Experience Poetry from a Native Woman’s Walk in Life

The poems within these pages tell the thoughts, ideas, joys, pains, struggles, and life events of a Native American woman living within dysfunction and her way of escaping through words. They show the inside of a Lakota Sioux woman who begins writing poetry at the age of fourteen. As she grows inside, she takes you on her walk with her words. Written for the reader, you can find what is needed and learn from the wisdom within, knowing that we all go through some of the same things. Should you find poems that help you through certain situations, then, this book will be serving its purpose.

THE MEASURE OF AN AGE It's every age that is measured, By what has been accomplished; The lessons that have been learned, With challenges that have been endured. From the beginning of an age to the end, Each deed done is measured; ... Not by a spoon, or, even a cup, But, by the power of intention. Every age is its own to live through, With deeds of every kind being done; Yet, the measure at the end of each age, Is something that's never thought of. Know that your measures will be added together, At the time of your last breath; And let your deeds be honest and true, Right up, until your death. 12-8-2011
